(1) Write a description of what you plan on doing
for your independent study component.
For my independent study component I plan
on finding a new physical therapy place to get some more experience. I think by
being around different working environments it will help me choose what area I would
want to work in one day. My plan will be not to just find another place to
volunteer at but a more specific kind of rehabilitation. What I want to do is
to find a sports rehabilitation, since that is the field that I am more interested
in.
(2) Describe in detail how you think your plan will
meet the 30 hours work requirement.
To get 30 hours, I think shouldn’t be
too hard to do. Usually when I volunteer I spend about 2 hours and I go in
twice a week. Right there is already 16 hours in one month. So maybe if I go in
3-4 times a week I will be able to get in more hours. Within those 30 hours I plan
on doing some observing and hopefully hands on. I want to talk to the patients
about what they think about going to rehabilitation and how they got injured.
Also, I will probably talk to some of the physical therapists there asking how
their experience is while working and if they can give me any tips, because getting
to know more people is always better especially since that’s the field I want
to go into.
(3) How does your independent study component relate
to your working EQ?
Well, I don’t really know what my EQ
will be but I have an idea. By doing my independent study component it will
help me understand what question I will be wanting to answer. I can find out
some different answers by asking the physical therapist from their experience.
Also, by just observing I will be able what the best techniques will be and why
some ways are better than others. I’m hoping that my EQ will be about what they
best technique is to recover and I am sure that by doing this component I will
get different perspectives and answers.
